As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble the father, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her.â On that âAbdullah bin Salam said, âI testify that you are the Apostle of Allah.â âAbdullah bin Salam further said, âO Allahâs Apostle! The Jews are liars, and if they should come to know about my conversion to Islam before you ask them (about me), they would tell a lie about me.â The Jews came to Allahâs Apostle and âAbdullah went inside the house. Allahâs Apostle asked (the Jews), âWhat kind of man is âAbdullah bin Salam amongst you?â They replied, âHe is the most learned person amongst us, and the best amongst us, and the son of the best amongst us.â Allahâs Apostle said, âWhat do you think if he embraces Islam (will you do as he does)?â The Jews said, âMay Allah save him from it.â Then âAbdullah bin Salam came out in front of them saying, âI testify that None has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah.â Thereupon they said, âHe is the evilest among us, and the son of the evilest amongst us,â and continued talking badly of him."

"The whole religious complexion of the modern world is due to the absence, from Jerusalem, of a lunatic asylum."
"There are only two texts, both of them extreme and mutually contradictory. The Old Testament injunction is the one to exact an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth (it occurs in a passage of perfectly demented detail about the exact rules governing mutual ox-goring; you should look it up in its context Exodus 21). The second is from the Gospels and says that only those without sin should cast the first stone. The first is a moral basis for capital punishment and other barbarities; the second is so relativistic and "nonjudgmental" that it would not allow the prosecution of Charles Manson. Our few notions of justice have had to evolve despite these absurd codes of ultra vindictiveness and ultracompassion."
"Central to America's rise to global leadership is our Judeo-Christian tradition with the vision of the goodness and possibilities of every human life."
"The early Christians made the enormous mistake of burdening themselves with the Old Testament, which contains, along with much fine poetry and sound morality, the history of the cruelties and treacheries of a Bronze-Age people, fighting for a place in the sun under the protection of its anthropomorphic tribal deity... The Hebrews of the Bronze Age thought that the integrating principle of the universe was a kind of magnified human person, with all the feelings and passions of a human person. He was wrathful, for example, he was jealous, he was vindictive. This being so, there was no reason why his devotees should not be wrathful, jealous and vindictive. Among the Christians this primitive cosmology led to the burning of heretics and witches, the wholesale massacre of Albigensians, Catharists, Protestants, Catholics and a hundred other sects."
"In the western world our thinking has for many centuries been dominated by the Jewish-Christian concept of man's relation to nature, in which man is regarded as the master of all the earth's inhabitants. Out of this there easily grew the thought that everything on earth-animate or inanimate, animal, vegetable, or mineral-and indeed the earth itself-had been created expressly for man."

"I saw the Prophet on the Day of (the battle of) Al-Khandaq, carrying earth with us and saying, "By Allah, without Allah we would not have been guided, neither would we have fasted, nor would we have prayed. O Allah! Send down Sakina (calmness) upon us and make our feet firm when we meet (the enemy). The pagans have rebelled against us, but if they want to put us in affliction (i.e., fight us) we refuse (to flee)."
