In spite of the media playing along with the narrative that probably Hindus were behind those attacks, there were many indications that those accused were framed. In 2017, after eight long, torturous years in jail, an ill Sadhvi Pragya and Colonel Purohit got finally out on bail. The army gave the Colonel a hero’s welcome. It showed that they never believed he was guilty. Though some charges were dropped, the case is still in court. Regarding another bomb blast in Hyderabad, only in April 2018 the Hindus accused were acquitted. The accusations against Hindus in those years of the UPA government were unproven, yet unrelenting. Since the Congress traditionally depended on Muslim votes, there may have been a temptation to play to the gallery."
