She served as the commissioner of the Baltimore City Health Department from 2019 to 2023. On March 11, 2019, Dzirasa was appointed by mayor Catherine Pugh as commissioner of the Baltimore City Health Department, succeeding interim commissioner Mary Beth Haller.
