Damien Echols (born Michael Wayne Hutcheson on December 11, 1974) is an American who was convicted of murder and sentenced to death as part of the "West Memphis Three". He was imprisoned in June 1993 and on was put on Arkansas' Death Row in March 1994. He was released in August 2011 in an agreement with the state of Arkansas known as an Alford plea.
