"I dealt with pain by causing pain. No, no... Ex that out. It is a ridiculous notion. That personal pain causes one man to injure another... To protect Germany. An act of self defense. To punish the German nation for undermining my charisma. To guarantee my singular place in history. To take their breath away... The broad-sweeping historical gesture. As the dream of conquest faded, the SS needed a new mission to sustain vitality. To brand the German people with this crime for all time. To add my chapter to the history of the chosen people. Their eternity is my eternity. My final enigmatic act. My postwar surprise to the world."

"This is Tony Pope, live from L.A., the city of fear, where the psycho vigilante killer continues his daily diet for murder. Bodies strung out! Bodies with the skins ripped off! The hearts torn from the cadavers! And just recently, King Willie, the drug lord, the vicious drug lord, found in an alley just around the corner with his head cut off, and his spinal column torn from the body - a fitting demise to the Prince of Powder."

"This is what I call the speech, kid. It's the only one I got and I only give it once, so pay attention. 'Til now, it's all been fun and games. "Cops and robbers," Dunkin Donuts. But you're in the shit now. Metro Command is a war zone."

Who the hell's in charge down here?! The cops? Uh-uh! They're outmanned, outgunned, and incompetent! Mr. Mayor, on vacation at your home in Lake Tahoe: get off your butt, get down here, and declare martial law!"
"Broad concept's the same. The difference is, this is a different individual. A different individual of the same species. As is a snake is a snake, but different snakes are different. You know what I mean? But the thing is, you gotta learn how to control it. All right? 'Cause fear is like this fire, all right? And it's burning deep inside. Now, if you control it, Tommy, it's gonna make you hot. But, you see, if this thing here, it controls you, it's gonna burn you and everything else around you up. That's right, you know?"

"You say you want a revolution?"
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
