"You wretches detestable on land and sea: you who seek equality with lords are unworthy to live. Give this message to your colleagues: rustics you were, and rustics you are still; you will remain in bondage, not as before, but incomparably harsher. For as long as we live we will strive to suppress you, and your misery will be an example in the eyes of posterity. However, we will spare your lives if you remain faithful and loyal. Choose now which course you want to follow."
"Richard IIâs reign was a personal and political tragedy. As a ruler, he was rigid, inept, inconsistent, paranoid, untrustworthy and vindictive â yet he was also a refined patron of the arts and the boy king who bravely faced the terrifying rebellious mobs of the Peasantsâ Revolt. Richardâs tragedy was to succeed to the throne as an unprepared, callow and foolish child in the shadow of his grandfather Edward III, one of the most heroic of English kings, and his father, the Black Prince, paragon of knighthood."
"Fair laughs the morn, and soft the zephyr blows, While proudly riding oâer the azure realm In gallant trim the gilded vessel goes; Youth on the prow, and Pleasure at the helm; Regardless of the sweeping whirlwindâs sway, That, hushâd in grim repose, expects his evening prey."
"We consider that our especial commendation and the testimony of our heart may be justly claimed by those who, in this time of apostasy and impiety, have exerted the force of their genius that they might write in defence of the cause of right. ... Amongst them you have stood out as one of the foremost, in that you have composed a famous work to overthrow and utterly destroy the fictions of the new philosophers of France, and have exhorted your fellow country-men...to show indulgences to Catholics born in the realm of Great Britain. ... therefore it is our wish that you should accept with joyful and cheerful heart our congratulations and praises, which have this especial objectâthat you should more and more exert yourself to protect the cause of civilization."
"We call upon you to witness, however, in the name of the Lord, beloved sons, Catholics who in the kingdom of the Gauls are united, being mindful of your religion and the faith of your fathers, we counsel you from the innermost feelings of our heart lest you secede from it, inasmuch as it is the one and the true religion, which bestows eternal life and protects citizens, even societies, and makes them prosperous. Take special care lest you proffer ears to the insidious voices of this secular sect, whose voices furnish death, and avoid in this way all usurpers whether they are called archbishops, bishops or parish priests, so that there is nothing in common between you and them, especially in divine matters...in one word, cling to us: for no-one can be in the Church of Christ unless he is unified with the visible head of the Church itself and is strengthened in the cathedral of Peter."
"[We condemn those principles whose] necessary effect [is] to destroy the Catholic religion, and with it, the obedience due to kings. It is with this end in view that they establish, as a right of man in society, this absolute liberty, which not only assures the right of not being disturbed in regard to his religious opinions, but which also grants that license of thought, of writing and even shamelessly publishing on the subject of religion whatever the most unruly imagination might suggest. This monstrous right nevertheless appears to the Assembly to result from the equality and liberty which are natural to all men. But what could there be more outrageous than to establish among men this equality and this unbridled liberty which will snuff out reason, the most precious gift that nature has given to man, and the only one which distinguishes him from the animals?"
"It is nature herself, therefore, which (decrees) that the usage which each must make of his reason should consist essentially in recognizing his sovereign author. ... In order to make this phantom of unlimited freedom vanish from the eyes of healthy reason, is it not enough to say that this system was that of the Vaudois and the Beguars?"
"So someone has made a fake page of me, and posted thisâŚand itâs making the dirtsheets as if I said it. UnrealâŚI only have two pages. This one and the page I always tag. Thatâs it. Itâs so obvious that this is not me writing because there isnât a single curse word in there. NICE TRY F********!!! Get a life you f****** troll!! So this fu****** who has a fake page of me is claiming that I f***** Seth Rollins 3 months ago and that he gave me an STD. Doesnât do his homework, does he??? IâVE BEEN INCARCERATED AND IN REHAB SINCE SEPTEMBER 23rd YOU F****** A******!!! They donât give conjugal visits in County lock up. NICE TRY, C***!"
"He once asked me if I could name a country run by a black person that wasnât a "shithole." This was when Barack Obama was president of the United States. While we were once driving through a struggling neighborhood in Chicago, he commented that only black people could live that way. And, he told me that black people would never vote for him because they were too stupid."
"I have never asked for it, nor would I accept a pardon from President Trump."
"...demanded a kiss from Samantha and told her she had a 'beautiful figure'."
"Iâm talking about a man who declares himself brilliant but directed me to threaten his high school, his colleges, and the College Board to never release his grades or SAT scores. As I mentioned, Iâm giving the Committee today copies of a letter I sent at Mr. Trumpâs direction threatening these schools with civil and criminal actions if Mr. Trumpâs grades or SAT scores were ever disclosed without his permission. These are Exhibit 6. The irony wasnât lost on me at the time that Mr. Trump in 2011 had strongly criticized President Obama for not releasing his grades."
"Anyone who believes that @realDonaldTrump is a racist doesn't know #Trump at all. Shame on the protesting rabbis with #AIPAC"
"I have asked this Committee to ensure that my family be protected from Presidential threats, and that the Committee be sensitive to the questions pertaining to ongoing investigations. Thank you for your help and for your understanding. I am here under oath to correct the record, to answer the Committeeâs questions truthfully, and to offer the American people what I know about President Trump. I recognize that some of you may doubt and attack me on my credibility. It is for this reason that I have incorporated into this opening statement documents that are irrefutable, and demonstrate that the information you will hear is accurate and truthful. Never in a million years did I imagine, when I accepted a job in 2007 to work for Donald Trump, that he would one day run for President, launch a 2 campaign on a platform of hate and intolerance, and actually win. I regret the day I said âyesâ to Mr. Trump. I regret all the help and support I gave him along the way. I am ashamed of my own failings, and I publicly accepted responsibility for them by pleading guilty in the Southern District of New York. I am ashamed of my weakness and misplaced loyalty â of the things I did for Mr. Trump in an effort to protect and promote him. I am ashamed that I chose to take part in concealing Mr. Trumpâs illicit acts rather than listening to my own conscience. I am ashamed because I know what Mr. Trump is. He is a racist. He is a conman. He is a cheat. He was a presidential candidate who knew that Roger Stone was talking with Julian Assange about a WikiLeaks drop of Democratic National Committee emails."
"Why debate when you can incarcerate?"
"Donald Trump is a man who ran for office to make his brand great, not to make our country great. He had no desire or intention to lead this nation â only to market himself and to build his wealth and power. Mr. Trump would often say, this campaign was going to be the âgreatest infomercial in political history.â He never expected to win the primary. He never expected to win the general election. The campaign â for him â was always a marketing opportunity. I knew early on in my work for Mr. Trump that he would direct me to lie to further his business interests. I am ashamed to say, that when it was for a real estate mogul in the private sector, I considered it trivial. As the President, I consider it significant and dangerous. I knew early on in my work for Mr. Trump that he would direct me to lie to further his business interests. I am ashamed to say, that when it was for a real estate mogul in the private sector, I considered it trivial. As the President, I consider it significant and dangerous. But in the mix, lying for Mr. Trump was normalized, and no one around him questioned it. In fairness, no one around him today questions it, either."
"You're talking about the front-runner for the GOP, presidential candidate, as well as private individual who never raped anybody...And of course, understand that by the very definition, you can't rape your spouse."
"I want to first of all, thank you. I know that this has been hard. I know that you face a lot. I know that you are worried about your family â but this is part of your destiny. And, hopefully, this portion of your destiny will lead to a better â a better, a better Michael Cohen, a better Donald Trump, a better United States of America and a better world. And I mean that from the depths of my heart. When weâre dancing with the angels, the question will be asked: "In 2019, what did we do to make sure we kept our democracy intact?" Did we stand on the sidelines and say nothing? ⌠Come on, now â we can do more than one thing. And we have got to get back to normal."
"#trump doesn't have a racist bone in his body. Don't buy into the lie!"
"During that time period, he directed his attorney to explore possibilities of a pardon at one point with Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani as well as other lawyers advising President Trump"
"Heâs speaking for himself. You have to understand Michael was extremely angry â he knew it never took place. He knew this website was a joke. He was very angry. Maybe he didnât understand the question. When I read it I disagreed. I donât know if he said it. Who knows what he said. Frankly, Iâm not sure if they reported it accurately anyway. But assuming he said it, yeah I disagree with that."
"Michael Cohen was one of many lawyers who represented me (unfortunately). He had other clients also. He was just disbarred by the State Supreme Court for lying & fraud. He did bad things unrelated to Trump. He is lying in order to reduce his prison time. Using Crookedâs lawyer!"
"Bad lawyer and fraudster Michael Cohen said under sworn testimony that he never asked for a Pardon. His lawyers totally contradicted him. He lied! Additionally, he directly asked me for a pardon. I said NO. He lied again! He also badly wanted to work at the White House. He lied!"
"Only last week, an official of the Soviet Union reiterated Brezhnev's threat to station nuclear missiles in this hemisphere, 5 minutes from the United States. Like an echo, Nicaragua's Commandante Daniel Ortega confirmed that, if asked, his country would consider accepting those missiles. I understand that today they may be having second thoughts."
"(Has the postâRevolutionary leadership tried to reâwrite the history of the Revolution?)...If by postâRevolutionary leadership you mean the current dictatorship of Ortega and Murillo, they have tried not only to rewrite the history of the Revolution, but to adulterate it, falsify it, and accommodate it to their own interests of consolidating themselves in a family dynasty in power as pernicious or worse than that of the Somozas."
"We must stand with Nicaragua now, as many of us did before, in opposing continued US hostilities in the form of the NICA Act and interference in Nicaraguaâs internal affairs. Nicaragua deserves such solidarity."
"Currently, Nicaragua is the only country victimized by the US-backed Central American Wars which is not also a source of immigrants to the US. This is in no small part due to the Sandinistasâ effective social programs. As for the Sandinistasâ social programs, even the New York Times acknowledged that âmany poor people who receive housing and other government benefits supportâ Sandinista President, Daniel Ortega."
"During the 1980s, Nicaragua â a tiny country which remains the second poorest in the Hemisphere â inspired many of us, myself included, with its heroic resistance to violent US aggression. Nicaragua has remained a symbol of opposition to US imperialism, and that has galled the powers-that-be in this country â particularly Neo-Cons such as current National Security Adviser John Bolton."
"The Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has called for peace in Latin America and warned the United States against a war on Venezuela... during an official act commemorating the 85th anniversary of the death of Augusto C. Sandino, the nationâs national Hero."
""We salute Venezuela that clearly fights for peace, in a commitment that has its foundations in the spirit and conviction of our Latin American and Caribbean peoples, and so we ratify it on the 85th anniversary of [Sandino] our âgeneral of free menâ," said Ortega during the ceremony."
"According to the Nicaraguan president, Latin America has spoken up against war and against intervention on its territory and called for a peaceful solution in Venezuela. "Beyond their political positions, countries have said that they are not in favor of intervention or war. There are some agreements that have to be worked on and initiatives to be developed to find a solution through peaceful means in Venezuela.""
"We are a poor country that wants to take the efforts and resources now being invested in defense of the revolution and invest it in tractors and plows. And we support general and complete disarmament, under strict international control. We are for an end to the arms race and we salute the SALT II accords as an important step in this direction. We demand respect for the territorial integrity of states and renunciation of the use of force in international relations. We condemn the existence of military bases."
"Finally, after moderating FSLN ideology and adopting more conservative views on some social issues, Daniel Ortega won the presidency in November 2006. His new administration enacted policies, such as free health care and more aid for low-income people, that significantly improved the lives of many. The FSLN hoped that the success of these policies would result in greater electoral support in coming elections, providing a more secure basis for future change. In 2011, Ortega and the FSLN won the presidency and control of the national legislature, receiving more than 62 percent of the popular vote. The Nicaraguan government in 2013 moved to fulfill the national dream of building an interocean canal that would significantly spur economic development."
"Sandino embodied the desire for liberty of a people who were systematically subjected to the attack of Yankee intervention and subjected to imperialist exploitation an domination. The same marines who murdered the Filipino people thousands of miles from our country, arrivied to soak Nicaraguan territory in blood in those days."
"We are Sandinistas; our people have been struggling against oppression and interventions for more than 150 years. That is why we have historically identified with the struggle of the Palestinian people and we recognize the PLO as their legitimate representative. And that is why we condemn Israeli occupation of the Arab territories and demand their unconditional return."
"The Nicaraguan people have won, with their blood, the right to be here today, in this way breaking with a historic past of servility towards imperialist policy. For the first time in their entire history the Nicaraguan people can officially express their sovereign will, joining this movement of the nonaligned barely forty-one days after their triumph."
"We salute Venezuela that clearly fights for peace, in a commitment that has its foundations in the spirit and conviction of our Latin American and Caribbean peoples, and so we ratify it on the 85th anniversary of Sandino] our âgeneral of free menâ ... Beyond their political positions, countries have said that they are not in favor of intervention or war. There are some agreements that have to be worked on and initiatives to be developed to find a solution through peaceful means in Venezuela."
"For the past decade, the United States has been quietly assisting opposition groups in Nicaragua, helping them organize resistance to the countryâs popular leftist president Daniel Ortega. U.S. officials hope the countryâs opposition groups will create a new political movement that can defeat Ortega at the polls or pressure him into stepping down from power. They fear that without their support, Ortegaâs opposition will remain weak and divided, making it impossible for anyone to mount a successful political campaign against the Nicaraguan president."
"Imperialism cannot conceive of a free people, a sovereign people, an independent people. Because, simply and plainly, for them the people is nothing more than an empty phrase."
"I have no friends even though I am cool."

"Throughout this whole trial you've heard a lot about hate and hatred, and how much hatred Iâm filled with and how vast my hate was. Well I don't like what black people do. If I was really filled with how much hate I allegedly am, wouldnât I just say yes? Why would I lie about that? It wouldnât make any sense."
"I feel pity that I had to give up my life because of a situation that should never have existed."
"InmĂłvil como un Ădolo sagrado, ceĂąido en mallas de compacto acero, estĂĄ ante el agua estĂĄtico y sombrĂo,'a manera de un prĂncipe encantado que vive eternamente prisionero en el palacio de cristal de un rĂo."
"Soy el cantor de AmĂŠrica autĂłctono y salvaje: mi lira tiene un alma, mi canto un ideal. Mi verso no se mece colgado de un ramaje con un vaivĂŠn pausado de hamaca tropical."
"I have no choice. I am not in the position to, alone, go into the ghetto and fight. I chose Charleston because it is most historic city in my state, and at one time had the highest ratio of blacks to Whites in the country. We have no skinheads, no real KKK, no one doing anything but talking on the internet. Well someone has to have the bravery to take it to the real world, and I guess that has to be me."
"Am I evil? I don't think I am. I'm no more evil than the black supremacist that killed 5 police officers in Dallas. You'll remember that Obama qualified/justified his actions in front of the ded's families directly afterwards."
"I would say that in this case the prosecution, along with anyone else who hates me, are the ones who have been misled."
"Nemtsov sacrificed a lot for politics, for a freer Russia â and Iâm not just talking about his life, his mortal life."
"In the tightly controlled and airproof âvertical of powerâ that is Vladimir Putinâs Russia, even a handful of dissenting voices in legislative institutionsâespecially when they are loud and persistentâcan present a serious threat to the system. Such was the voice of the late Boris Nemtsov."
