": 25And give good news to those who believe and do good deeds, that for them are Gardens in which rivers flow. Whenever they are given a portion of the fruit thereof, they will say: This is what was given to us before; and they are given the like of it. And for them therein are pure companions and therein they will abide."

"Yusuf Ali: 26Allah disdains not to use the similitude of things, lowest as well as highest. Those who believe know that it is truth from their Lord; but those who reject Faith say: "What means Allah by this similitude?" By it He causes many to stray, and many He leads into the right path; but He causes not to stray, except those who forsake (the path),-"

"Pickthall: 38We said: Go down, all of you, from hence; but verily there cometh unto you from Me a guidance; and whoso followeth My guidance, there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve. 39But they who disbelieve, and deny Our revelations, such are rightful Peoples of the Fire. They will abide therein."

": 42Do not confuse truth with falsehood, nor conceal the truth knowingly."

"Pickthall: 45Seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard save for the humble-minded."

"Pickthall: 62Lo! Those who believe (in that which is revealed unto thee, Muhammad), and those who are Jews, and Christians, and Sabaeans - whoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right - surely their reward is with their Lord, and there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve."

"Mustafa Khattab: 77Do they not know that God is aware of what they conceal and what they reveal?"

": 81There is no doubt that evil doers who are engulfed in sins are the companions of hell fire wherein they will live forever. 82As for the righteously striving believers, they will be among the people of Paradise wherein they will live forever."

": 83And when We took compact with the Children of Israel: ́You shall not serve any save God; and to be good to parents, and the near kinsman, and to orphans, and to the needy; and speak good to men, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms. ́ Then you turned away, all but a few of you, swerving aside"

"Pickthall: 83And (remember) when We made a covenant with the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none save Allah (only), and be good to parents and to kindred and to orphans and the needy, and speak kindly to mankind; and establish worship and pay the poor-due. Then, after that, ye slid back, save a few of you, being averse."

"Yusuf Ali: 109Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy, after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook, Till God accomplish His purpose; for God Hath power over all things."

"Yusuf Ali: 110And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah: for Allah sees Well all that ye do."

"Wahiduddin Khan: 118Those who are devoid of knowledge say, Why does God not speak to us or show us a sign? The same demand was made by those before them; their hearts are all alike. We have made the signs clear to those whose faith is firm."

"Ahmed Ali: 121Those to whom We have sent down the Book, and who read it as it should be read, believe in it truly; but those who deny it will be losers."

": 131When his Lord said to him, "Submit," he said, "I submit to the Lord of the universe.""

"Mustafa Khattab: 138This is the ˹natural˺ Way of God. And who is better than God in ordaining a way?"

"Mustafa Khattab: 142The East and West belong ˹only˺ to God. He guides whoever He wills to the Straight Path."

"Pickthall: 148And each one hath a goal toward which he turneth; so vie with one another in good works. Wheresoever ye may be, Allah will bring you all together. Lo! Allah is Able to do all things."

"Muhammad Ali: 153O Believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. God is certainly with those who are patient 154And speak not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, (they are) alive, but you perceive not."

"Yusuf Ali: 155Be sure we shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods or lives or the fruits (of your toil), but give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere."

"Mustafa Khattab: 163Your God is ˹only˺ One God. There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him—the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful."

"Muhammad Asad: 164Verily, in the creation of the heavens and of the earth, and the succession of night and day: and in the ships that speed through the sea with what is useful to man: and in the waters which God sends down from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after it had, been lifeless, and causing all manner of living creatures to multiply thereon: and in the change of the winds, and the clouds that run their appointed courses between sky and earth: [in all this] there are messages indeed for people who use their reason."

"Muhammad Asad: 177True piety does not consist in turning your faces towards the east or the west - but truly pious is he who believes in God, and the Last Day; and the angels, and revelation, and the prophets; and spends his substance - however much he himself may cherish - it - upon his near of kin, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and the beggars, and for the freeing of human beings from bondage; and is constant in prayer, and renders the purifying dues; and [truly pious are] they who keep their promises whenever they promise, and are patient in misfortune and hardship and in time of peril: it is they that have proved themselves true, and it is they, they who are conscious of God."

"Mustafa Khattab: 186When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺."

"Mustafa Asad: 190And fight in God's cause against those who wage war against you, but do not commit aggression-for, verily, God does not love aggressors. 191And slay them wherever you may come upon them, and drive them away from wherever they drove you away - for oppression is even worse than killing. And fight not against them near the Inviolable House of Worship unless they fight against you there first; but if they fight against you, slay them: such shall be the recompense of those who deny the truth."

"Mustafa Khattab: 190Fight in the cause of Allah ˹only˺ against those who wage war against you, but do not exceed the limits. Allah does not like transgressors. 191Kill them wherever you come upon them and drive them out of the places from which they have driven you out. For persecution is far worse than killing. And do not fight them at the Sacred Mosque unless they attack you there. If they do so, then fight them—that is the reward of the disbelievers."

"Pickthall: 190Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors. 191And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers."

"Muhammad Ali: 193And fight them until there is no persecution, and religion is only for Allah. But if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors."

"Mustafa Khattab: 193Fight against them ˹if they persecute you˺ until there is no more persecution, and ˹your˺ devotion will be to Allah ˹alone˺. If they stop ˹persecuting you˺, let there be no hostility except against the aggressors."

"And spend in the way of God and do not throw (yourselves) with your (own) hands into destruction (by refraining). And do good; Indeed, God loves the doers of good."

"Arthur John Arberry: 209O believers, enter the peace, all of you, and follow not the steps of Satan; he is a manifest foe to you."

"Wahiduddin Khan: 219They ask you [Prophet] about intoxicants and gambling. Say, There is great sin in both, although they have some benefit for people: but their harm is greater than their benefit."

"Wahiduddin Khan: 225God will not call you to account for any oaths you uttered unintentionally, but He will take you to task for what is intended in your hearts."

"Muhammad Ali: 255Allah -- there is no god but He, the Ever-living, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist. Slumber overtakes Him not, nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. Who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them. And they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He pleases. His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Great."

"Yusuf Ali: 256Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things"

"Wahiduddin Khan: 257God is the patron of the faithful. He leads them from darkness to the light. As for those who deny the truth, their supporter is Satan, who brings them out of light into darkness. They are the heirs of the Fire, and there they will remain forever."

"Muhammad Ali: 261The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of God is as the parable of a grain growing seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains."

"Muhammad Ali: 284Whether you manifest what is in your minds or hide it, God will call you to account according to it."

"Mustafa Khattab: 264O believers! Do not waste your charity with reminders ˹of your generosity˺ or hurtful words, like those who donate their wealth just to show off and do not believe in Allah or the Last Day. Their example is that of a hard barren rock covered with a thin layer of soil hit by a strong rain—leaving it just a bare stone. Such people are unable to preserve the reward of their charity. Allah does not guide ˹such˺ disbelieving people."

"Muhammad Ali: 271If you do deeds of charity openly, it is well; but if you bestow it upon the needy in secret, it will be even better for you, and it will atone for some of your bad deeds. And God is aware of all that you do."

": 276Allah does not bless usury, and He causes charitable deeds to prosper, and Allah does not love any ungrateful sinner."

"Muhammad Ali: 284Allah imposes not on any soul a duty beyond its scope."

"Mustafa Khattab: 284God does not require of any soul more than what it can afford."

"Ali: 7He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding."

"Pickthall: 7He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed."

"Pickthall: 28Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security. Allah biddeth you beware (only) of Himself. Unto Allah is the journeying."

"Muhammad Sarwar: 28The believers must not establish friendship with the unbelievers in preference to the faithful. Whoever does so has nothing to hope for from God unless he does it out of fear or taqiyah (pious dissimulation). God warns you about Himself. To God do all things return."

"Mustafa Khattab: 29Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or reveal it, it is known to Allah. For He knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And Allah is Most Capable of everything.”"

"Muhammad Ali: 59The likeness of Jesus with Allah is truly as the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then said to him, Be, and he was. 60(This is) the truth from thy Lord, so be not of the disputers."

"Muhammad Asad: 67Abraham was neither a "Jew" nor a "Christian", but was one who turned away from all that is false, having surrendered himself unto God; and he was not of those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him."
