Immersed in that fire, the demons and souls, as if they were transparent and black or bronze embers, with human form, were floating in the fire, carried by the flames that came out of themselves together with clouds of smoke, falling on all sides like sparks in great fires, without weight or balance, amid cries and groans of pain and despair that filled one with horror and made one tremble with fear. The demons could be recognised by their horrible and repulsive forms of frightening and unknown animals, but transparent and black. (p. 119)"
