It distresses us to return work which is not perfect. — Written when O'Toole was still alive, possibly a planned epitaph. — O'Toole's wife sent an old and much stained leather jacket to the cleaners and they returned it, having done their best, with a note pinned to the lapel which read, "It distresses us to ect..." This amused O'Toole so much he declared it would be on his "tomb stone".
