A scheme of national economic planning to achieve a right, or at least a better, balance of our industries between the old and the new, between agriculture and manufacture, between home development and foreign investment; and wide executive powers to carry out the details of such a scheme. It will shock—it must do so—the many good citizens of this country...who have laissez-faire in their craniums, their consciences, and their bones ...
