Nestor Vicente Madali Gonzalez (1915–1999), commonly known as N.V.M. Gonzalez, was a renowned Filipino novelist, short story writer, poet, and educator. Named a National Artist for Literature in 1997, he is celebrated for chronicling rural Filipino life, the kainginero (slash-and-burn farmers) experience, and the Filipino spirit.
