While returning from there, after 4-5 km, bullets were fired on our bus. The firing did not stop even after our bus fell into the ditch. The driver was shot and then some people were also injured in the firing," a survivor told ANI."

"The extent of jihadi entrenchment in Kerala was demonstrated in 2003 in Marad, a sleepy coastal fishing village, where eight Hindu fishermen were hacked to death by a Muslim mob on the beach. The killers then hid inside the nearby Jumma Masjid, where hundreds of local Muslim women converged to prevent the police from entering to catch the attackers. This became known as the Marad Massacre or Second Moplah Massacre. Justice Thomas P. Joseph’s commission was set up to investigate the massacre, and it came out with shocking details about the robust infrastructure that the jihadis had built in Kerala. The assistant commissioner of police testified before the commission, stating that National Development Front (NDF) had been receiving very large funds from unspecified foreign countries to carry out its terror training. The commission reported that the Crime Branch had failed to inquire into the source of funds for such a large quantity of weapons and well coordinated attacks."

"With regard to the violence by the Christian separatist group NLFT, the report again employed ambiguous and generalized statements to dilute the horrific acts of terror committed in the name of Christianity. While acknowledging Christian violence, it referred to the Hindus as the ‘majority religious community’ even though in the northeast Indian states where most such violence occurs, it is Christians who constitute the overwhelming majority not only numerically but also in terms of controlling the government and other civic institutions. The report mentioned the Christian violence as something which others have ‘accused’, and not as a matter of established fact, despite there being numerous official verdicts and reports in India proving that violence... It concludes its very brief paragraph on this matter by rationalizing the violence as the fault of the Hindus: ‘The group contends that the dominance of Hinduism has resulted in the marginalization of Christians in Tripura’. In other words, Christian violence is caused by their alleged ‘marginalization’, and is hence justified, even though Hindus have been systematically ethnically cleansed from that region. Unlike its reporting of the alleged atrocities against Christians, where the Hindu side of the story is never given, here the NLFT’s reasoning is given prominence... The specific events of killings of Hindus by NLFT are never discussed. USCIRF simply ignores the numerous reports by South Asian Terrorism Portal (www.satp.org), a terrorism watch group run by professional police and intelligence bureaucrats, that listed twenty-one violent incidents involving NLFT Christians for that year."

"The most prominent among the terrorist outfits of Tripura is the NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura). It employs terror tactics to effect mass conversion to Christianity (The Statesman 1999, 2000; Ghosh 1999) and is a predominantly Baptist (Protestant) organisatian. Whatever token non-Christian representation it had, it has lost recently. Nayanbashi Jamatiya, a Hindu leader, led a revolt against the policy of forcible conversion of the NLFT and left a rebel camp in neighbouring Bangladesh with his followers. On April 8, 2001, while his party was moving towards the Indian border; it was attacked by the main group; seven activists were killed and he himself was seriously injured and taken to a government hospital in Bangladesh."

"In Tripura there were several cases of reverse persecution of non-Christians by Christian members of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), a militant tribal group that often is evangelical. For example, NLFT tribal insurgents have banned Hindu and Muslim festivals in areas that they control, cautioned women not to wear traditional Hindu tribal attire, and banned indigenous forms of worship."

The latter category of people included characters like Ramchandra Kalsangra and Sandeep Dange who remained out of bounds for investigative agencies. Perhaps, the top agencies were not even interested in apprehending these accused, as their real motive was not to reach the truth but to give shape to a fictitious theory to benefit their political masters.... There were no serious efforts to nab these accused as the real motive was to frame the RSS leadership."

"The circumstances, as well as the experiences, pointed fingers at Pak-based Jihadi groups. Haryana Police, who had managed to reach the source of suitcases used in the blasts, conducted the initial investigation. The attacks had clear imprints of involvement of SIMI recruits. The SIMI chief, Safdar Nagori, was said to be the mastermind of the conspiracy. The narcotics, brain mapping and lie detectors conducted upon him confirmed this suspicion. Nagori was also an accused in the 7/11 Mumbai train blasts. It was during the interrogation related to this case that he revealed that some SIMI activists had colluded with Pakistani terrorists to carry out the Samjhauta Express blasts. The advanced explosive used in the terror operation indicated help from across the border."

There is little doubt that the whole investigation was politically motivated. It seems like a fabricated theory from the outset whose motive was pre-meditated. "On May 18, 2007 a bomb blast took place in Mecca Masjid near Charminar in Hyderabad wherein 9 persons were killed and 58 others injured... These are information available in public domain, in the court records of the Special CBI Judge at Hyderabad. Certain similarities between the Samjhauta Express blasts and the Mecca Masjid blast were noticed in so far as both used batteries of 6 volts and cast iron pipes etc."

"In the midnight of 18 February 2007, bombs went off in two carriages of the Samjhauta Express, a train service connecting Delhi and Lahore, just after the train passed Diwana station near Panipat in Haryana. The bombings claimed 68 lives. Like the 26/11 attack in Mumbai, there were attempts to link this incident to the RSS. While the script in the former case was written in the form of a book by a hardliner, this one was an official version released by the NIA. Regardless of who the culprit was, there cannot be two opinions about the fact that politics on the Samjhauta Express blasts did immense damage to India’s fight against terrorism."

"Hyderabad’s famous Lumbini Park and Gokul Chaat shop areas also came under attack during this so-called ‘Hindutva Phase of terror.’ Two terror suspects Shahid and Bilal were arrested in connection with this act. The initial investigation suggested it was the handiwork of HuJI. The police and ATS probe established that the masterminds of this blast and that of Mecca Masjid bombing were the same. Such a clear connection between these two acts punches several holes in the theory that Hindu extremists had perpetrated the Mecca Masjid explosion."

But when the alleged SIMI activists were released despite proofs or details of their modus operandi, the real purpose behind raking up the issue of saffron terrorism without any solid evidence started to unveil."
