"A Franciscan, he reflected the deep faith and true Christian charity of St. Francis. We will all miss his kindness and support."
"Scripture is not seen as primarily a written norm, but rather a consecration of the History of Salvation under the species of the human word. The content and unity of Scripture does not refer to the books of the Scriptures themselves but to the reality to which these books give testimony and witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ."
"Christ is born. We say "is" not "was" because Christ is always with us. Christ does not desert us, we might desert him."
"When any misunderstanding is possible, spontaneous prayer that leaves no doubt about the truth of the matter according to the Church's teachings on faith and morals and no doubt about the blessing’s goal of growth in salvific holiness is the only option. What we pray is what we believe!"
"Jesus Christ founded one Catholic Church with fundamental truths and sacraments. He did not detail the way that should be experienced. History and geography have provided the alternate expressions. With a unified Catholic Church, our differences can be ways of understanding those truths and celebrating the sacraments while protecting their integrity."
"I still feel like a Jesuit. And I am grateful for what I received from the Society of Jesus. I would like to say to all Jesuits: Thank you, brothers."
"I don’t believe we really choose who is going to be canonized, God does."
"In a world of billions of Christians of many traditions, we always have been a little church. However, like the mustard seed, we can grow. And, even if we remain small, we are like a pinch of yeast in a loaf of bread. We share our traditions and spirit to influence and enrich all the Christian Churches. Our Easter icon is known and our Easter greetings can be heard in many traditions as well as in our own."
"We, as Catholics, fully and in everything adhere to the instructions and positions of the Apostolic capital, including on the issue of the status of our church. Based on the fact that from the point of view of dignity, All Churches of their right are equal among themselves and have complete freedom with respect for the general and own right to form and develop the internal life of their church, except for the highest authority of the church, there is not a single competent forum or instance that would be able to change the canonical status of a particular Eastern Catholic Church of its right."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
