"The Church in Togo is maturing slowly but surely. Our priority is the Christian, human and spiritual formation of the faithful. All the members of the Church, clergy, religious and laity need adequate formation if they are to meet the needs of the people. Formation also includes inculturation of the faith so that our faithful do not feel they are strangers in their own Church."
"The objective is to help each priest to live his ministry as a means of sanctification, and to lead the people of the faithful to follow our model, Jesus Christ."
"Dear son, whom I love, let me tell you that today you have the grace to preside over the destinies of the Togolese people. I want to humbly ask you in the name of God, in all humility to use for the reforms of all your prerogatives to propose a new realistic and consensual calendar for the legislative elections."
"Man looks for immediate salvation, expects a remedy from the Gospel, an efficient solution to his doubts, to his ailment, to his difficulty, to his suffering, to his sickness today. He believes in future life, in happiness after, but he wants to be happy today. In these sombre moments, it is not easy for him to accept in faith that the Kingdom of God is already there for him as well, because yet he does not understand that the Kingdom of God, the Christ, is in fact the real happiness."
"The Church is ready to mediate…we want to bring our own building block to the edifice, in respect of the truth. We want to show the right path to follow, that the sons and daughters of this country should listen, speak with one another and move forward."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
