"May the power of God's love help them defend the family and life, God's gifts to humanity. History will be grateful for all the efforts you are making to resist the forces of darkness."
"The primigenial conscience of humanity confirms the inalterable realty of the union of a man and a woman as mutual complementation and perfecting of the whole of creation. In recent decades this original plan has been relativised. Life is no longer respected in its integrity. The family itself if under attack by a culture which disgregates it."
"They do not fight for others, but they fight for themselves. The Church calls, once again, on the authorities to identify the criminals and take all legal measures to punish the perpetrators and to prevent further shedding of innocent blood."
"A great man is gone, friend of all, who has done so much for the children of Chaco... a great priest, a great bishop."
"You lay people, are the great majority of the Church and it is time to be protagonists, develop a sense of belonging and deepen formation, committed according to our faith, to be leaven in the mass, salt of the earth and light for transformation of society."
"Jesus must be the center of our life as pastors and of our evangelizing ministry. Hence, the people will look up to us with respect and trust. If we are seen to be "close", our word and the message which we bring will deserve credit."
"The Church as the body of Christ, as a spiritual and visible reality at the same time and as a great unity of action, presence and service, must work to convert to God and transform the world. And this is by her own conversion, sanctification and commitment with people and society."
"This synod should reflect on the importance of paying greater attention to this matter, passing from simple purification to seek suitable ways to include expressions, signs and gestures of this rich religious devotion in liturgy. In my view it is a challenge to our faith in God and in man. If we don't make this effort to overcome mere tolerance, we will tend to have parallel liturgies among the people; they will passively submit to our liturgy and joyously celebrate in their own way."
"I am sure that both realities, prayer and medical professionalism, achieve a wonderful result. The confluence of both actions, prayer and medical care, indicates the need to consider the human person in all his dimensions: physical, psychic and spiritual. This unity needs to be healed. And this is what I live in this place of silence, meditation and rest."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
