"Healing doesn’t always look like what we expect."
"Sometimes, it’s waking up and feeling like you can barely make it through the day. Other times, it’s the quiet moments when you realize that somehow, you’ve survived something you thought would break you."
"Today, at Kisugu Health Centre, I had the chance to speak about healing. It’s one of those words we throw around, but living through it? That’s a different story."
"Healing isn’t a straight line, it’s not about waking up one day and feeling whole again. It’s messy, unpredictable and very personal. Today, we spoke about the small, often unnoticed steps we take on this journey. Healing begins when we allow ourselves to feel, to cry, to break down and most importantly when we give ourselves permission to take time. Whether it’s from a physical illness, emotional wound or trauma, healing doesn’t work on anyone else’s clock but our own."
"I met so many people who carry silent battles within them. Some of these struggles go unnoticed by the world but that doesn’t make them any less real. We talked about how healing isn’t just about getting over something, it’s about learning to live with the scar it leaves behind. It’s about being kind to yourself on the days when you don’t feel okay and celebrating the small victories when you do."
"Healing isn’t something we do alone. Sometimes, it’s the people around us, their support, their kindness, their understanding that give us the strength to keep going. But even with the best support system, the real work of healing is ours to carry."
"We acknowledged that healing is messy, that sometimes it feels like two steps forward and five steps back. But in those moments when we’re kind to ourselves, when we accept that progress isn’t linear, we grow."
"To everyone out there healing or just beginning their journey, know this, Healing takes time. It’s not about erasing the pain but learning to live alongside it with grace and patience."
"And in that, there’s strength."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
