"Whispers at the bus stop. I heard about nights out in the school yard. I found out about you. Rumors follow everywhere you go. Like when you left and I was last to know. You're famous now and there's no doubt, In all the places you hang out, They know your name and know what you're about."
"Tell me do you think it'd be all right If I could just crash here tonight? You can see I'm in no shape for driving And anyway I've got no place to go. And you know it might not be that bad, You were the best I'd ever had. If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago, I might not be alone."
"'Cause all I really want is to be with you, Feeling like I matter too. If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago, I might be here with you."
"I've lost my mind on what I'd find, And all of the pressure that I left behind On Allison Road. Fools in the rain if the sun gets through, Fire's in the heaven of the eyes I knew On Allison Road."
"And every day's much better Since I've slowed my drinking pace. There's no swimming in the bottle It's just someplace we all drown."
"The last horizons I could see Are now resigned to memories. I never thought I'd still be here today."
"So I guess I must have just been dreaming When I thought I heard myself say no. Anyway it looks like no one heard me, so here I go. 'Cause when you're in the company of strangers, Or just the strangers you call friends, You know before you start just how it's going to end."
"My nerves are frayed and I've had enough. I'm a lot afraid that it'll hurt too much. I can't seem to stop at all, I'm plain wore through, waiting for your call. I've been waiting around here all night long, Holding on to these memories until they come undone."
"Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down; Anyplace but those I know by heart. Anywhere you go, I'll follow you down; I'll follow you down, but not that far."
"Are they gonna find us lying face down in the sand? So what the hell now, we've already been forever damned."
"It gets hard; The memory's faded. Who gets what they say? It's likely they're just jealous and jaded. Well maybe I don't want to take advice from fools. I'll just figure everything is cool Until I hear it from you."
"I wonder what you're dreaming While we're halfway 'cross this bridge. We've come too far to turn back, We're just too close to quit."
"Sometimes late at night when I'm all alone, I watch the airplane lights, make my way back home. I wonder if you're flying somewhere up in the clouds, While the rest of us are stuck here down inside the crowd."
"You're such a mystery; It's never clear to me. You're always leaving me second guessing. All I wanna know is Baby where you go. Where you been when you come up missing? Miss Disarray."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
