Bhimsen Joshi

Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi (Kannada: ಭೀಮಸೇನ ಗುರುರಾಜ ಜೋಷಿ, February 4, 1922 – January 24, 2011) was an Indian vocalist in the Hindustani classical tradition trained under Sawai Gandharva. He was known as the "living superstar of the Kirana Gharana". His repertoire is in the khayal form of singing. He was renowned also for renditions of devotional music such as bhajans and abhangs.
