"Not really, but it happens so often, that sometimes I make a joke of it. I’ll smile back enthusiastically sometimes or make a clown face just for fun."
"I was later told who did it. To this day, they don’t know I know. There is power in that. It is powerful to know something and just keep it with you until you decide to act on it. It’s like having bullets – if you use them, then they are gone. But if you keep them safely, you have an arsenal. I sometimes see the person who did it and they think we are cool but I know. One day."
"I am the kind of person who has to finish something once I start and I took my studies seriously. There are times I would be in the studio with my producer and I would tell him to make the session quick because I wasn’t about to miss class."
"I don’t believe in having one foot in, one foot out. If you are going to do something, give your 100 per cent to it and if it doesn’t work, that’s fine, but you don’t want it not to work because you were not committed and later wonder, ‘what if I had put in a little more effort?’"
"I have not been as active because I started a company, and I have to take care of it. So far, so good. Artistry has always been in me—I haven’t left music. I also act."
""I started singing in my second year of campus. Over time, I had to become a different woman, especially because of motherhood. I’ve been in the industry since I was 18, and now I’m in my 30s."
"When my son was a day old, that’s when it hit me that I no longer had a say—it would always be about him. He now fully depends on me. In the beginning, I was a walking zombie because I wasn’t getting enough sleep. Even now, I survive on very little sleep as I also have to chase my dreams."
"They say only rich people are having kids nowadays because the cost of raising a child is crazy. But I would love to have two or three so that my firstborn can have siblings."
Young though he was, his radiant energy produced such an impression of absolute reliability that Hedgewar made him the first sarkaryavah, or general secretary, of the RSS.
- Gopal Mukund Huddar
Largely because of the influence of communists in London, Huddar's conversion into an enthusiastic supporter of the fight against fascism was quick and smooth. The ease with which he crossed from one worldview to another betrays the fact that he had not properly understood the world he had grown in.
Huddar would have been 101 now had he been alive. But then centenaries are not celebrated only to register how old so and so would have been and when. They are usually celebrated to explore how much poorer our lives are without them. Maharashtrian public life is poorer without him. It is poorer for not having made the effort to recall an extraordinary life.
I regret I was not there to listen to Balaji Huddar's speech [...] No matter how many times you listen to him, his speeches are so delightful that you feel like listening to them again and again.
By the time he came out of Franco's prison, Huddar had relinquished many of his old ideas. He displayed a worldview completely different from that of the RSS, even though he continued to remain deferential to Hedgewar and maintained a personal relationship with him.
