"Comedy comes from a very deep background: I went down deep, collected my shells and when I came up, I made sure that everything I had brought back did a somersault. Humour does not come only from ridicule; on the contrary, we laugh not at someone but thanks to someone: this is its greatness."
"Acting means telling the truth about things, about the world, even if it may seem like a contradiction. Because fiction is one thing, acting is another."
"[Marchesini:] 'We have always been very close. There is always respect, friendship and professionalism. We still keep in touch even now that our paths on stage have separated. When Massimo told us he wanted to do other things on his own, we were sorry, but it also seemed like the most natural and right thing to do.â [Interviewer] âWhat was it like being between two men?" [Marchesini:] 'I always felt like a fusilli inside a packet of macaroni, but that's fine with me. All in all, when I think about what we did, I feel that we had a sense of success, yes, we did, and in the end, perhaps the responsibility of always having to live up to expectations weighed on us a little."
"I have always read a lot, ever since I was a young girl. [...] Later, I started writing, but only for myself. The stimulus came after reading Proust's Recherche in its entirety. When I decided to submit something to a publishing house and was told that no, it wasn't good enough, I was very satisfied."
"Being able to dabble between the Television, corporate and modeling industries, has afforded me the opportunity to equip myself with several skills, that have helped me tackle each project I work on with a fresh approach, and new ideas."
"I am entering Miss South Africa with the hopes of bringing unity within the African continent. I would like to start conversations that are aimed at repairing the damage caused by xenophobia, not only in South Africa but all over the African continen"
"As exciting as this was, on one hand, I got to experience the full acceptance and love from being treated like a South African, and on occasion, with just the mere mention of my surname, I felt what it was like to be treated like a foreigner."
"I would never ask an actor to do something that I wouldn't do. So I was right there with them. I would cry with them. I would be angry with them. I would yell with them. I would do everything first so that they could see that it's okay to do it that broad."
"For live action projects, I like getting âdressed up,â getting my hair and make-up done, and working on a set, opposite other actors. On a recent TV gig, I was in awe of all the design and detail that went into creating the physical space where my scenes took place. And working on a live set thatâs buzzing with crew, other actors, craft services, and everyone around â it has its own magical vibe to it! And for voice acting, I feel a different kind of joy from slipping on the headphones and seeing all the action unfold in my mindâs eye. I get to move my body as much as I want to, and I can make silly faces while I perform. And no one ever sees that, well, except for the people in the recording session. I guess I like the anonymity you feel during voice acting, as much as I enjoy acting in front of a camera that sees everything you do. I know my creative soul is happiest being able to work on both types of projects."
"The thing that I enjoy about animation is the fact that it is unbridled and there are no boundaries; when are in the room you donât have to focus on your clothing, make-up, hair, your choreography or your blocking, you really do have total freedom. It is that total freedom that I really enjoy as there is no judgement and there are no critics there watching to see what you are going to do. It is just a free-for-all, and I really enjoy that process. When you are working with incredible directors then the responsibility lies on them to do the product and get the story told; it takes a lot of pressure of me, and I just get to go in and have a play session."
"I just want to keep working and being enthusiastic and having dreams and working hard to make those dreams come true, anything else is boredom."
"They call me the Joan of Arc in the family, and they're always saying, 'Mother's off on another one of her things. She's off fighting the world. She's off tilting at her windmills. But once they came to see the play, I think they understood what all those months [of study and rehearsal] had been about. I sat down with them at one point and told them I'd never finished anything in my life, although I'd started an awful lot of things. I said whether the play was a success or a failure didn't make any difference. What was important was that I finished it, because that element of not finishing projects is a failure in my character. And I think they understood that."
"The best part about acting is reacting. Audiences don't know that they mustn't sit back and observe and say, "I will watch this." Whether it's my play or anybody's play, they must become participants. Too many people today are observing life instead of participating in it."
"I am really committed to my faith journey and I am committed to my family. My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years and we homeschool our kids. We have a different working-out-of the-box family, but we do make it work, obviously with Godâs grace and we are very grateful for that.â Are there any drawbacks from not living in New York or L. A.? âSometimes it can be a little bit lonely because we are the only family that we know that is in the entertainment industry, homeschools and is faith-based [while trying] to maintain some sort of âregular lifeâ so to speak in the midst of the crazy stuff. It is a little bit different I think. Sometimes we feel like we are the Lone Rangers, but this is where God has us and this is his calling for right now, for this season. We do it with joy and with integrity"
"Well, for me, I was able to make that statement of faith early on when my career began, so there werenât really a lot of surprises. People around me knew where my husband Ray and I stood as far as my faith went. When you establish that early on in your career it makes it so much easier than trying to re-invent it or having to restate your faith each new opportunity that comes ahead."
"I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have inadvertently offended...The bag was a purchase I made as a tourist in China."
"Fame does not define me. If you are looking for fame to define you, then you will never be happy and youâll always be searching for happiness, and you will never find it in fame. Fulfillment comes from within you, by being authentic to yourself â not chasing fame."
"I'm like every other woman: a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear: So I wear jeans."
