"I think if you're on this earth for such a limited amount of time, how insane is it to sit behind your phone and computer and complain about something you don't like when you have the world at your hands of all the things you could do? Like, what an absolute waste of energy, time, and emotion."
"Imagine you see a street performer. They're playing violin on the street corner, they've got their case out whith cash. Say you fucking hate violins. Violins drive you nuts. I’ve always tried to be positive on social media and my approach hasn’t changed. If I see someone having a bad day, I want to be there to let them know it’ll get better. There’s a lot of noise on social media, a lot of negativity, which sucks. I’ve never been able to understand or wrap my head around it, but then I have to remember there are good people, too. That’s how I see social media."

"Well part of the reason I have that many credits is I don’t get in my director’s face too much. I just do what I’m told. But I’ve also been burned by first time directors. Anthony and I talked about it and, you know, he thought he was picking me and I thought I was picking him and we hit it off. He’s very visual which is exactly what you want for this."
"I mean, there is a certain amount of exposition you have to have in films and how that exposition is handled tells you whether it's a good script or not, whether it's a good filmmaker or not. You know, the more exposition that can be handled without a character speaking it, the more thematic metaphors that you can do visually, to me that’s a better situation."

It actually felt like we finally had our Black superhero and nobody can touch us."

You don’t see many black male and female actors being able to put on that stage. For him to be as transcendent as he was. But then you add on the fact that growing up as a black kid, you had superheroes that you looked up to, but they weren’t black. You had Batman, you had Superman, you had Spider Man, and so on and so on. And for him"

2. Aug.
